Dammam Entertainment Centre Car Park Modelling, Saudi Arabia

Project Introduction

The Dammam Entertainment Centre Car Park Modelling project focuses on developing a state-of-the-art facility with a GFA of 160,000 sqm, including a water park, entertainment centre, marina, and hotel. The project offers over 3,000 parking spaces to cater to high visitor volumes. Located in Dammam, it is part of the Al-Hamra Corniche Development led by Saudi Entertainment Ventures Company (SEVEN). The initiative aims to enhance urban entertainment while integrating parking facilities with surrounding infrastructure. The parking model ensures efficient operation for the Water Park, Entertainment Complex, Hotel, and Arena.

Challenges

Key challenges included designing a car park layout to handle large visitor volumes and minimize congestion. The model had to optimize ramps, access points, and connectivity with surrounding roads. Identifying bottlenecks and operational issues in a dense urban environment added complexity. The project also needed to assess traffic impacts and ensure smooth integration with the existing road network. Meeting these requirements demanded precise analysis and simulation.

Solution

A microsimulation model was developed using PTV VISSIM to evaluate parking operations and traffic flow. The model incorporated the car park layout, ramps, access points, and adjacent roads. Operational issues were identified and addressed with effective mitigation measures. The simulation ensured optimized traffic flow and enhanced user experience. It provided actionable insights to align parking functionality with the goals of the Al-Hamra Corniche Development.
