The public park in Liwa Dhafeer, Liwa City, located within the Al Dhafrah region of Abu Dhabi, spans a substantial area of 61,500 sqm. This green space is envisioned to enhance the quality of life for residents, providing recreational and leisure opportunities in a serene environment. The park is designed to accommodate visitors efficiently with its strategic site access and circulation layout.
Key challenges of the project included developing an efficient site access and circulation design to manage visitor flow while ensuring seamless integration with the surrounding road network. The park’s anticipated trip generation posed unique traffic management concerns, particularly during peak hours. Securing approvals from ITC Abu Dhabi required meeting regulatory standards and ensuring the design would maintain acceptable Levels of Service (LOS) across all junctions in the study area.
A robust traffic impact study (TIS) was conducted. Detailed junction analyses confirmed that all intersections would operate at acceptable LOS across all assessed years. Strategic parking and circulation designs were implemented to optimize visitor access while minimizing congestion. The project’s careful planning and collaboration with ITC Abu Dhabi ensured regulatory compliance and a sustainable transport strategy that will support the park’s functionality and accessibility in the years to come.
